Ness Middle School 2017-2018 Registration forms

Students currently enrolled in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division who will be going into grade 6 or grade 7 french immersion program at Ness Middle School for the 2017-2018 school year were given their "pre-printed" registration forms from their current school to bring home on January 27th.  Registration forms should be completed, signed and returned to your child's current school on Monday, February 6, 2017.  Student Transportation Application forms were sent home with students mid February 2017.  Transportation applications (if required) should be completed, signed and returned to your child's current school as soon as possible.  10 post-dated cheques are required to be submitted with your application for a purchased bus seat.

Student transportation applications are valid for one school year only.  If you are requiring bussing for your child for the 2017-18 school year, please complete a Student Transportation Application and submit it to our school's office with your child's registration form. Please note that you must apply for bussing each school year.   

Students in Grade 6 who live in Ness' catchment area and live more than 1 kilometer away from the school are eligible for free bussing to and from school.   

Students in Grade 7 or 8 who live in Ness' catchment may apply to purchase a bus seat.  Purchased bus seats are always dependent on availability, on a first come, first served basis.  When submitting your Student Transportation Application for a purchased seat, please ensure that you have attached 10 post-dated cheques made payable to Ness Middle School dated the 1st of each month (Sept - June) in the amount of $44.00 /mth (2 way transportation) or $22.00 / mth (1 way transportation).

School Vandalism

School vandalism often  involves graffiti, broken windows, damage to roofs and playground equipment.  To report suspicious activity on school grounds  that  may occur between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. or  during anytime during weekends  or school holidays, please call 204-231-4556

Extreme Weather Condition
Phoning list will NOT be used in extreme weather conditions.  In extreme weather conditions, when blizzard conditions exist and or wind chills exceed -45, please listen to CJOB AM radio or go to their website at (www.cjob) ocjob.com  or the division website at  (www.sjsd.net) ssjsd.net   to find out if bussing has been cancelled.

Reminders for students:

- Students who are arriving early to school in the morning, who are not participating in before school activities, you are not to be going to your lockers and should remain outside until the bell rings. The library will be open at 8:20 am for those students who would prefer to go to the Library to read or do school work. Students that are participating in before school activities are reminded that they are to remain at their activities until the morning bell rings.

- Students are reminded that Heelies are not to be worn in the school. Using the wheels in the school are a safety concern.

- Those students who go into the Library before school in the morning,please take all your belongings from the library when you leave to go to your locker.

- Students cell phones are not to be used during the school day. They are to be kept locked inside your locker during the school day, from 8:50 am (student entry time) until the afternoon dismissal time (3:45 or 3:10 on early dismissal days).

School Bus Cancellation
Please be advised that with the cold winter weather upon us, there exists the possibility of school buses being canceled for safety reasons.

In the event of extremely cold weather (a wind chill hazard of -45°C or greater) buses will be canceled and students will need alternate transportation.

The School Division will contact all parents via automated phone messaging, to advise them of bus cancellations. The news media is also alerted to cancellations and Division websites are updated to reflect any announcements.

Please ensure that the school is notified if your phone
number changes so that we will be able to contact you.
